Brazilian lawmakers remove proposed 15% CIDE-Bets contribution, opinion says

Regulation

A Brazilian opinion article says Chamber president Hugo Motta helped secure the removal of a proposed CIDE-Bets contribution from a measure under discussion. The proposal would have applied a 15% rate to bettors’ deposits and, according to the report, was to be considered separately for further debate. The report reports that fixed-odds betting generated R$ 37 billion in gross gaming revenue in 2025.

Removing the proposed contribution avoids a levy on bettors’ deposits for now, while leaving the proposal for separate debate.
