Brazilian lawmakers consider redirecting betting tax revenues

Regulation

Brazilian lawmakers are considering proposals to redirect betting-sector revenues to sports-related purposes. A Senate committee approved Bill 6,124/2025, which would transfer one percentage point of betting revenue allocated to the Sports Ministry to the Defence Ministry’s Military Sports Commission; the bill is now under review by the Economic Affairs Committee.

The proposals could change how betting-derived public revenues are allocated across Brazilian institutions.
