Brazilian government suspends online sports betting for up to 120 days

Regulation

Brazil's government introduced a provisional measure immediately prohibiting online sports betting nationwide, according to the report. The measure can remain in force for up to 120 days and will lapse if both chambers of Congress do not ratify it. Betano is considering legal action, citing its five-year operating licence issued on 1 January 2025.

Operators face an immediate nationwide prohibition that may lapse unless both chambers of Congress ratify the measure.
