Brazilian Finance Ministry sets new rules for betting advertising
Brazil’s Finance Ministry said it would publish new online betting advertising rules on 10 July, following an announcement by Finance Minister Dario Durigan on 9 July. The rules require warnings that betting can cause losses or dependence and is not an investment, restrict misleading statements by commentators and subject companies to fines of up to 20% of revenue or suspension for 180 days. The ministry said repeat serious breaches could lead to operators losing authorisation.
Operators and advertising partners must adapt their betting promotions to the new warnings and restrictions by 17 July.
