Brazil’s Finance Ministry and Ipea agree to develop betting-market indicators
Brazil’s Finance Ministry, through its Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, and the Institute for Applied Economic Research signed a technical cooperation agreement on 14 April to develop public indicators and studies on fixed-odds betting. Ipea will analyse administrative data to assess issues including the illegal market, household indebtedness linked to betting, mental health and risks to finance and sport.
The planned indicators could inform Brazil’s regulatory monitoring of the betting market.
