Brazil lower-house speaker urges caution on sports betting ad ban
Brazilian Chamber of Deputies president Hugo Motta called for caution on proposals to ban sports betting advertising after a Senate committee approved PL 3.563 of 2024 on 5 February. The bill would prohibit advertising, sponsorship and promotion of betting and online gaming, and is due to go to the Senate’s Constitution and Justice Committee; Motta said the issue lacked consensus among lower-house party leaders.
The proposal could change how betting companies advertise and sponsor sport in Brazil if it advances.
