Brazil extends betting restriction to Desenrola Fies participants
Brazil’s federal government extended a sports betting restriction to participants in the Desenrola Fies debt-renegotiation programme through Provisional Measure 1.358/2026, published on 13 May 2026. The rule bars betting platforms from participating in federal debt-renegotiation programmes for one year; executive secretary of the Finance Ministry Rogério Ceron said the amendment clarified that the restriction covers the student programme.
