Brazil betting study projects tax burden rising to 42% by 2033
A study commissioned by the Brazilian Institute for Responsible Gaming (IBJR) from LCA Consultoria projects that taxes on online betting companies in Brazil will rise from 32% in 2025 to 42% in 2033. The study says social allocations, currently 12% of turnover, are due to increase gradually to 15% in 2028; IBJR warned that higher tax pressure could benefit unlicensed betting.
The projected increase gives licensed operators and regulators a basis to assess the sector’s future tax burden.
