Betsson Group took part as a partner in the University of Málaga's annual Malackathon, held on 28 October 2026, and proposed one of the event's challenges, according to a report on the event. The challenge asked participants to develop an application able to check how real Betsson webpages function and to interact with them.
Participants in the challenge were given test access to Betsson's official website and were able to use the games available on the platform, the report said. The Malackathon is an intensive programming day at the university's higher technical school of computer engineering, in which students work on technology challenges, some set by partner companies.
The university says the event aims to bring students closer to practical programming problems and to contact with technology professionals, and highlights its educational value, including experience, specialist advice and curriculum building, according to the report.
Betsson's participation follows the company's presence in Málaga, where it opened its first office in Spain in February, the report said. Chief executive Jesper Svensson said the city offers a suitable environment to drive the company's next phase of growth.
Betsson closed the third quarter of 2026 with revenue of €326.5m, 10% more than in the same period of 2025, according to the data cited in the report.
