Bangladesh cabinet approves draft gambling law covering online betting
Bangladesh’s cabinet gave in-principle approval to the draft Gambling Prevention Act, 2026, at a meeting on 18 June, according to the report. The bill would repeal the Public Gambling Act, 1867, and define online gambling, digital wallets, bookmakers and match-fixing, with penalties including fines or imprisonment. It now goes to the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division for vetting before final approval.
The draft would establish rules and penalties for online gambling and related activity in Bangladesh.
