Bally’s says A$260m Star penalty will not cause insolvency

Enforcement & compliance

Bally’s said the A$260m penalty imposed on Star Entertainment by the Federal Court of Australia will not make the casino operator insolvent. Star accepted the penalty, payable in four instalments from November 2026 to May 2028; Bally’s cited Star’s improved first-quarter fiscal 2027 EBITDA and higher Sydney and Gold Coast revenue, while Star said the schedule would not affect its ability to continue as a going concern.

The penalty’s instalment schedule and Star’s financial position affect its recovery prospects and investors’ assessment of the operator.
