Bally’s pauses Chicago casino construction amid VGT dispute

Regulation

Bally’s told the Chicago Community Builders Collective on 9 August that it was pausing work on the hotel and other non-gaming parts of its Chicago resort. The company said the city’s support for video gaming terminals could breach its 2022 Host Community Agreement, which it says bars other casino-style gambling within city limits. Bally’s said the permanent casino remains scheduled to open early next year.

The dispute could affect construction of Bally’s Chicago resort and the planned expansion of gaming terminals in the city.
