Austria plans gambling rules before independent regulator is ready

Regulation

Casinos Austria spokesperson Patrick Minar said establishing an independent gambling regulator will take six to 12 months, while the government aims to have a new gambling framework active by late 2026. The Ministry of Finance would oversee enforcement during the transition if the authority is not ready; the bill’s text remains unpublished.

Operators need clarity on interim enforcement while Austria establishes an independent regulator and develops its new gambling framework.
