Austria proposes online gambling licences from October 2027

Regulation

Austria’s coalition government has published a draft law proposing a multi-operator online gambling market from October 2027. Applicants active without a licence in the preceding 18 months could be excluded, with the proposed period rising to 24 months from 2030; applicants would also have to settle outstanding taxes and player compensation rulings. The draft sets a €5 online slot stake limit and provides for 13 land-based casino licences in the next tender.
