Austria draft proposes competitive online gambling licences and 45% tax
A draft Austrian gambling reform would end the online gambling monopoly and allow multiple operators to apply for concessions, according to the draft text. It proposes an initial licence term of five years, renewals of 10 years and a 45% tax on gross gaming revenue; applicants would also need to settle qualifying player judgments and unpaid gambling tax.
Prospective Austrian operators must assess proposed licensing, tax and eligibility conditions before entering the market.
