At least 23 Brazilian football clubs seek to join challenge to betting ban
At least 23 football clubs asked Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court to join a case challenging the provisional measure that bans betting companies, according to the report. Flamengo estimated losses of up to R$430 million in 2027, while Botafogo said about US$10 million in annual Vbet sponsorship formed part of its recovery-plan cash flow. São Paulo said its Superbet contract was suspended, with payments of R$95 million in 2026 and R$678 million through 2030.
The court challenge puts clubs’ betting sponsorship income and related financial commitments at issue.
