ASECAL urges Castilla y León to back bingo modernisation

Ana Pérez, representing the Castilla y León bingo association ASECAL, called on the regional administration to support technological modernisation of the bingo sector and to safeguard its business continuity. She made the request at a press conference ahead of the 19th Congreso de Castilla y León, held in Soria, according to the association's account of the event.
Pérez cited bingo's contribution to the regional economy through tax revenue, public financing and the creation of direct and indirect employment. She said that behind each hall there are companies, investors, professionals and families whose livelihood depends on the activity.
The ASECAL representative argued that the sector should advance at the same pace as other business activities, incorporating new technologies and adapting to changes in consumer habits, payment methods and forms of play. She asked the Junta de Castilla y León to maintain its collaboration with companies and to facilitate that evolution.
Pérez described bingo as a regulated leisure activity subject to the guarantees established by law, and argued that user safety should be compatible with economic development. "We have to achieve that balance," she said, insisting that player protection should not become an obstacle to modernisation of the business.
She also described the congress as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between the different subsectors and to maintain closer dialogue with the administrations. In her view, such meetings allow participants to share experiences, address new challenges and give visibility to an activity that, she argued, contributes to employment and to the economic support of the autonomous community.
