Arizona gaming department opens applications for 10 retail wagering licences

Licences & markets

Arizona's Department of Gaming will accept applications from 13 August for up to 10 limited event wagering operator licences, the department said. The application window will last two weeks; applicants must pay a $1,000 submission fee, and successful operators will pay $10,000 initially and $5,000 annually. Retail revenue will be taxed at 8%, compared with 10% for online sports betting.

The licences offer operators a retail entry route with a lower tax rate than online sports betting.
