Anseja challenges Brazil betting ban in Supreme Court

Regulation

The National Association for the Legal Security of Games and Betting (Anseja) filed a constitutional action in Brazil’s Supreme Federal Court challenging Provisional Measure 1.394/2026, which restricts fixed-odds betting activities. Anseja seeks suspension of the measure and argues that it lacks constitutional urgency; the measure provides for betting sites and apps to become unavailable 10 days after publication and federal, state and district authorisations to end on 25 October. The National Association of Games and Lotteries has filed a separate challenge.

The court challenges could determine whether betting operators must comply with the measure’s access restrictions and authorisation termination.
