Summary
France's ANJ and the DGCCRF urged consumers to be wary of sports betting advice offers on websites and social media ahead of the 2026 football World Cup, warning that claims of improved winning chances may be misleading commercial practices. The DGCCRF said 19 sports betting operators were inspected in 2024 and three cases ended in criminal settlements totalling more than €130,000. The authorities extended their cooperation protocol for major sporting events in 2026 and 2027.
Why it matters
Tipster marketing and influencer promotion carry enforcement risk, and operators should note the regulators' extended cooperation.
