Allwyn has appointed Fredrik Ögren, formerly chief technology officer at Betsson Group, as its Group Chief Technology Officer. Ögren is based in Switzerland and will work with Allwyn Digital CEO Kresimir Spajic and teams in the UK, Greece, Austria and the US. He succeeds interim Group CTO Brett Cross, who remains at the company as Deputy Group CTO and also serves as CTO of Global Lottery.
The company said digital sales account for 51% of National Lottery sales in the UK, where Allwyn operates The National Lottery. Allwyn set up Allwyn Digital in September 2025 and placed Spajic, a former Betfred USA chief executive, in charge of the division. The report also notes that Allwyn sought a majority stake in Novibet, an effort that was blocked after regulatory intervention, and that it acquired PrizePicks last year, giving it exposure to daily fantasy sports and prediction markets.
Ögren said technology is central to player experiences, innovation and long-term business success, and that he looked forward to working with colleagues across the group on a more connected technology ecosystem and the next phase of Allwyn's growth. Spajic said Ögren brings industry experience, technical expertise and a record of leading technology transformation across global organisations, and described the appointment as a step towards a more scalable technology platform across the group.
The report also covers Allwyn's second Participant Protection Conference, held at Kings Place in London under the title 'Evolving Participant Protection: Evidence, Insight & Action'. The event brought together regulatory leaders, academics, researchers and industry experts to discuss research, accessibility and behavioural insights in responsible play. It included a keynote address from Sarah Gardner, Acting CEO of the Gambling Commission, and a Lottery Literacy Workshop led by Dr Richard Wood.
