Alea warns Italy’s draft gambling decree could reduce protections

Regulation

Alea president Maurizio Fiasco warned at a Senate press conference that Italy’s proposed decree on land-based gambling could weaken existing protections. He said the draft would set distances of 100 metres from schools and addiction centres for certified gaming halls and betting outlets, and 200 metres for other venues. The draft is still being prepared and would require consideration by the State-Regions and Local Authorities Conference.

The proposed distance rules and limits on local opening-hour powers could affect land-based gambling operators across Italy.
