AGU asks Brazil’s Supreme Court to invalidate fixed-odds betting laws
Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office (AGU) asked the Supreme Federal Court on 2 October to declare the core provisions of Laws 13.756/2018 and 14.790/2023 unconstitutional. In a submission to the court, AGU argued that the laws do not adequately protect public health, family finances and other interests, reversing its earlier position that the rules were still constitutional subject to progressive invalidation.
A court ruling could determine the legal basis for Brazil’s fixed-odds betting framework.
