Italy’s AGCOM has opened proceedings to extend guidelines for marketing Lega Pro audiovisual sports rights from 2028 to 2031, the regulator said. The guidelines allow for the possible sale of rights linked to games and betting, as well as other specialised uses of selected images.

It was reported that AGCOM opened proceedings to approve guidelines for centralised sales of football audiovisual rights covering the 2029/2030 to 2033/2034 seasons. The material addresses betting, data and new technologies alongside several football competitions.

Valérie Peano, founding partner of EGLA, criticised Italy’s gambling advertising ban during a panel at SiGMA World 2026. She said the Decree of Dignity was under review by the Court of Justice of the European Union over procedural issues and argued that the ban lacked scientific assessment and an ex-post review. Peano also called for balance in the ongoing consultation.
