AGCO working group recommends changes to equine drug programme

Ontario’s Alcohol and Gaming Commission (AGCO) established an equine drug programme working group with the Canadian Pari-Mutual Agency, announced in May 2017, to advise on process reforms. The group met five times over seven months; the AGCO said it would use its consultations to revise the programme, including its approach to positive tests and penalties.
The planned reforms could change case handling and penalties for equine drug violations in Ontario horse racing.
