AGA chief says states and tribes should retain gambling authority
American Gaming Association president and chief executive Bill Miller criticised the CFTC’s push for federal oversight of sports betting and prediction markets. Miller argued that states and tribal governments should retain regulatory authority unless the federal government explicitly removes it, and said sports-related event contracts had cost states an estimated $480 million in tax revenue since their introduction last year.
The dispute bears on whether operators offering sports event contracts face state and tribal gambling rules or federal oversight.
