AGA and IGA urge Congress to restrict sports prediction market contracts
The American Gaming Association and Indian Gaming Association called on Congress to restrict sports-related prediction market contracts, according to a letter dated 12 January. The groups argued that the products resemble sports betting while operating outside the safeguards applied to licensed gambling, and urged lawmakers to address them during discussions on crypto legislation. They also cited markets tied to college player transfers and political events.
Any congressional action could affect how prediction market products compete with licensed US sportsbooks and casinos.
