- Panama wins CIADI arbitration against Banesco over bond calls
Panama won an international arbitration brought by Banesco Holding Latinoamérica and Banesco (Panamá) at CIADI, according to a 5 May 2026 award. The tribunal rejected all of Banesco's claims and ordered the bank to pay Panama $900,000 in legal fees and costs. Banesco had sought more than $13.5m over the execution of bonds guaranteeing public works contracts.
