Wisconsin lawmaker backs online sports betting bill amid prediction-market concerns

Regulation

Wisconsin Representative Tyler August backed AB 601, which would allow the state’s 11 tribes to offer online sports betting statewide, arguing that unregulated prediction-market apps could otherwise fill the gap. The bill requires approval by the state House and Senate and Governor Tony Evers; August said it would keep wagering within the state’s tribal compact framework.

AB 601 could expand regulated online sports betting to tribal operators across Wisconsin if enacted.
