A US House committee advanced legislation sponsored by Nevada representative Dina Titus to reverse the gambling-loss tax cap, according to reports. The proposed FAIR BET Act would restore a 100% deduction limit for bettors, and Titus aims to introduce it before the end of 2026.
The proposal could change the amount of gambling losses bettors can deduct for tax purposes.

Bonus.com reported that the IRS held a hearing on 17 July 2026 about the 90% gambling loss deduction rule for the 2026 tax year. Speakers sought repeal or clarification, warning that the limit could create taxable income without an overall gambling profit.
