UKGC director criticises Meta over illegal gambling adverts

Regulation

UK Gambling Commission director Tim Miller accused Meta of failing to act adequately on adverts for unlicensed online casinos targeting the UK, according to a media report. Miller said the platform had received repeated warnings and urged it to use its AI systems to identify and block suspicious adverts; Meta removed dozens after being asked for comment, the report said.

The criticism puts pressure on Meta to address adverts that may reach people who have self-excluded from gambling.
