UK High Court upholds National Lottery licence award to Allwyn
The UK High Court dismissed claims by The New Lottery Company and Northern & Shell challenging the Gambling Commission’s award of the fourth National Lottery licence to Allwyn. The judge rejected allegations of procurement irregularities and said the competition had produced a legitimate result; Northern & Shell said it intends to appeal. The contract was valued at about £6.5bn, while the claim included £17.5m in bid costs and potential damages of up to £1.3bn.
The ruling upholds Allwyn’s National Lottery licence award, though Northern & Shell intends to appeal.
