UK Gambling Commission targets illegal operators’ large-scale growth
Gambling Commission executive director Sue Young said on 11 June that the regulator aims to stop illegal operators from expanding at scale in Great Britain, rather than eliminate the illegal market entirely. She reported 741 warnings in the last financial year, along with 1,134 sites blocked or geoblocked; the regulator’s board has not completed its assessment of financial risk checks.
The regulator’s enforcement approach and financial-risk assessment may affect licensed operators’ reporting and compliance work.
