UK Gambling Commission introduces financial risk checks for high-spending players
The UK Gambling Commission said it will introduce financial risk assessments for high-spending players through a phased rollout. The initial threshold is £5,000 in net deposits over a rolling 24-hour period; at full implementation, thresholds will be £1,000 over 24 hours or £3,000 over 90 days for players aged 25 and over, with lower limits for younger players. The Betting and Gaming Council questioned the system’s reliability and potential effects.
Phased financial risk assessments will require operators to identify eligible customers under the Commission’s deposit thresholds.
