Uganda proposes 30% gaming tax on gross gaming revenue

Regulation

Uganda’s government has proposed a 30% tax on gross gaming revenue in bills tabled by finance ministers in early April 2026, according to the report. The Income Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026 also proposes a 15% withholding tax on net winnings. The proposals have gone to parliamentary committees; if approved, the regime would take effect on 1 July 2026.

If Parliament approves the proposals, operators would face a gross-revenue tax and a withholding tax on net winnings.
