Turkish authorities detain 547 in operation targeting cybercrime and illegal gambling

Enforcement & compliance

Turkish authorities detained 547 people in a cybercrime operation across 61 provinces, the Interior Ministry said. Authorities arrested 155 people and placed 183 under judicial control; some suspects were allegedly involved in illegal betting and gambling, promoting unauthorised sites or moving money for illicit platforms. A separate football investigation involving two arrested referees is continuing, while a possible expansion to players and football officials was reported.

Operators and regulators should note enforcement against illegal betting, gambling promotion and payments across Turkey.
