Southwark court suspends sentences for three defendants in UK election betting case
Southwark Crown Court sentenced three people linked to the Conservative Party on 23 October after they admitted cheating by using confidential information to bet on the 2024 general election. Anthony Lee received a suspended sentence of 10 months and two weeks, Laura Lee four months and two weeks, and Amy Hind six months; the court also imposed gambling-site bans, probation and unpaid work.

The case shows that using confidential election information to bet can lead to criminal convictions and restrictions on gambling access.
