South Carolina lawmakers prepare to debate casino bill with revenue-sharing plan
South Carolina lawmakers are preparing to debate House Bill 4176, which would permit retail casinos in selected rural counties, after reaching agreement on proposed tax-revenue allocations. The plan would direct 35% to the state conservation bank, 30% to the Veterans’ Trust Fund, 26% to the General Fund, 5% to the host county and 4% to counties along the Interstate 95 corridor. The bill has 19 co-sponsors, while Governor Henry McMaster opposes gambling.
The proposed allocations could shape legislative support for authorising casinos in South Carolina.
