Social Market Foundation proposes 40% UK machine games duty
The Social Market Foundation has proposed doubling UK Machine Games Duty on Category B machines to 40% of gross gaming yield in the Autumn Budget. It estimated the change could raise £275 million to £458 million, while the Betting and Gaming Council said it opposed an increase; the report also acknowledged uncertainty about how operators would respond.
The proposal could increase tax costs for operators of Category B gaming machines if adopted.
