Lauren Quaintance has been proposed as a new non-executive director on the board of SkyCity, the company said. Regulators in every gaming jurisdiction where SkyCity operates must still sign off on the appointment.
Such clearance typically takes a number of months, according to the announcement. In the meantime, the incoming director can support the SkyCity board in an advisory role.
Quaintance is currently a director of Vista Group International, Turners Automotive Group, Autosure Insurance, and J.Ballantyne and Co. She also chairs ChristchurchNZ and ChristchurchNZ Holdings. In executive roles, she has been chief media & data officer for Sky Television and co-founder and managing director of Storyation. Storyation was sold to NewsCorp Australia in 2019.
SkyCity chair Julian Cook credited Lauren with broad skills in media, digital and data, and linked them to a company strategy that includes moving into online gambling. He added: “We are delighted that she has agreed to join the SkyCity Board.”
Shares in SkyCity Entertainment Group closed 1.43 per cent lower at NZ$0.69 in Wellington on the Friday the report refers to.
