San Francisco court strikes down California card-room rules on blackjack and dealers
A San Francisco Superior Court judge ruled on 30 June that California’s Bureau of Gambling Control exceeded its authority in issuing rules on blackjack-style games and player-dealers. The decision upholds a preliminary injunction blocking the rules; the attorney general’s office said it was reviewing its options. A further case management conference is scheduled for 10 July.
The ruling prevents enforcement of rules that the state analysis said could cut card-room blackjack revenue by about 50%.
