Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore has agreed a partnership with Honeywell Technologies to use predictive optimisation for its district cooling. The two companies announced the arrangement earlier this week. The aim is to help the resort anticipate cooling demand, reduce energy use and maintain guest comfort across its site.

Three programmes are to be developed and tested at the Honeywell Technologies Singapore Sustainable Buildings Centre of Excellence. In the first, AI keeps tuning HVAC systems to cut energy consumption without sacrificing indoor comfort. This air-conditioning solution is already in use at Resorts World Convention Centre and at Illumination’s Minion Land in Universal Studios Singapore. The second programme has the district cooling plant predict the resort's requirements and choose which machinery to operate, along with the timing. The third relies on Forge, described as Honeywell Technologies’ proprietary intelligence platform, to consolidate energy data into insights about possible waste and practical recommendations for facilities teams.

Munish Suri, President, Building Automation, India and APAC at Honeywell Technologies, said interconnected systems working together to optimise energy use "as conditions change" is the next frontier. Kess Chiang, Senior Vice President, Resort Services at Resorts World Sentosa, said facilities management involves more than repairing faults after they occur.
