Prairie Meadows considers lease enabling renovation of up to $300m in Iowa

Deals & M&A

Polk County supervisors are due to consider a new lease for Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Iowa, which could support a renovation costing up to $300 million. The proposed 15-year lease includes two possible five-year extensions; the casino’s board approved it on 27 August, and the project remains in planning. Prairie Meadows expects greater clarity on design, cost and financing by year-end, according to the report.

A longer lease could give the county-owned casino more scope to finance a major renovation.
