Philippine senator proposes wider anti-money laundering rules for online gaming
Senator Joel Villanueva filed Senate Bill No. 1983 to amend the Philippines’ anti-money laundering law, reportedly including online gambling among sectors covered by the rules. The proposal would give the Anti-Money Laundering Council powers to suspend transactions, impose administrative freezes and issue subpoenas; it remains at an early stage of the legislative process.
If enacted, the bill could add monitoring and reporting obligations for online gaming operators.
