Nova Odessa council postpones municipal lottery proposal until 2026

Regulation

Nova Odessa’s municipal council postponed consideration of a proposal to establish a municipal lottery until 2026, after approving a motion by councillor Márcia Rebeschini. Mayor Cláudio Schooder had submitted the proposal under an urgent procedure. The bill would allow private companies to operate the lottery under 20-year concessions, while the city’s legal opinion questioned whether municipalities have authority to create such a service.

The delay gives councillors more time to assess legal risks before voting on a proposed 20-year private lottery concession.
