Regulation

North Carolina bettors wagered $520.5m in August 2026, keeping the state’s monthly handle above $500m for a 12th consecutive month, according to the North Carolina State Lottery Commission. The figure was nearly 9% above August 2025 and more than 40% higher than August 2024. The state’s sports betting tax rate rose from 18% to 23% in July.
