New Jersey governor signs campus gambling-awareness bill

Regulation

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill requiring public colleges, universities and community colleges to invite the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey to campus at least once each semester. The visits will provide information on gambling risks, counselling, self-exclusion and other support services. Murphy and the bill’s sponsors said the measure is intended to address gambling-related harm among students.

The law requires state public higher-education institutions to provide students with recurring gambling-risk and support information.
