Nevada Gaming Control Board rejects bettor’s $1,008 reimbursement appeal

Regulation

Nevada’s Gaming Control Board rejected Kevin O’Brien’s appeal for a $1,008 reimbursement in a dispute with William Hill over wagers placed through the Caesars Sportsbook app. O’Brien said two parlays were made without his input; the Board’s report noted that the bets lost and that no technical issues were documented. The Board said he had not raised the dispute before the events ended.

The decision reinforces the Board’s stated expectation that bettors raise wager disputes before the event concludes.

He called the line the CFTC draws between event contracts and sportsbook wagers "an untenable distinction without a difference." The commission released two proposals late last Friday, one of which would classify event contracts as swaps under federal law and bar traditional gambling.
