NCAA survey finds betting-related threats reach 46% of Division I men's basketball players
The NCAA's GOALS study, released on 5 February, found that 46% of Division I men's basketball players received negative or threatening messages from people who had bet on their games. The survey covered more than 20,000 student-athletes at 493 schools from December 2024 to June 2025. NCAA president Charlie Baker said the association must protect athletes from the harassment.
The findings add evidence to the NCAA's case for restrictions on player prop betting and athlete-protection measures.
