Montevideo plans to transfer Casino Parque Hotel to national government in 2026

Regulation

Montevideo’s municipal government plans to transfer Casino Parque Hotel’s management to Uruguay’s national government in mid-2026, municipal economic development director Camilo Benítez told the Departmental Board. The casino division of the Ministry of Economy and Finance would take over once the transfer is approved. The municipality reported annual losses of $173 million pesos in 2021, $69 million in 2022, $87 million in 2023 and $83 million in 2024.

The planned transfer would change the public authority responsible for managing the casino after four reported years of losses.
